Kamryn Pettway sidelined again…

pettway

There was excitement two weeks ago when Kamryn Pettway hit the field in stride against the Arkansas Razorbacks.  He ran for 90 yards and three touchdowns and looked like his old self….for a moment. Little was known, but Pettway walked away from the 52-20 blowout win with an injury. Pettway suffered a shoulder fracture and X-rays confirmed that it was extensive to the point that Pettway is sidelined again for at least 3-4 weeks.  “We thought it would get better and it didn’t get any better”, Auburn coach Gus Malzahn said.

So Auburn will travel this week to Texas A&M, minus one frustrated running back and not to mention frustrated fans.  Pettway will not need surgery which means it is possible that he could go against Alabama in the Iron Bowl, but don’t hold your breath.  This injury will likely take quite a long time to heal up properly.

Kam Martin and Malik Miller will be called on to fill in the gap behind Kerryon Johnson for the next few weeks.  Can they hold up? I think so, and time will tell if they can handle the spotlight.
