Snap Judgments - Auburn vs Mercer

What did our contributors think about our monumental victory over Mercer?
Well, Auburn beat Mercer 24-10 yesterday. Here are the facts:
  1. Jarrett Stidham played fairly well, going 32-37 for 364 yards and an interception. He had 18 straight completions and had the 2nd best completion percentage in an SEC game while completing 30 passes or more.
  2. Kam Pettway was the only Auburn running back to get a carry. He ran the ball 34 times and scored thrice.
  3. The defense again was fantastic, limiting Mercer to just 246 yards.
  4. The offense committed five turnovers.
Those are the facts, here are the opinions.

Threw it around a ton, but that was just unimpressive. Defense was fine, but if the offense is going to make those kinds of mistakes, they have to force turnovers. Auburn was lucky that happened against Mercer. You can guarantee other teams will be ripping at the ball constantly the rest of the season. I don't know that you can call any game left a guarantee.

Our offense moved the ball. Our defense held them largely in check. Five turnovers will ruin your day against anybody.
Really unhappy that Pettway had 34 or so carries against a I-AA opponent. Stidham still holds it too long and would have been sacked 8 times against most SEC D-Lines.
Missouri is a good matchup for us next week because it only gets worse from there. We need to fix this soon or shelter in place from now till Thanksgiving weekend.

QB threw for over 3 bills. I think the offense actually looked composed, but the turnovers were so mind boggling. I'm mad about pettway getting every carry. The defense is still real good. I don't know what else to say, we may have all lost by having to watch this game

Post game Knee jerk: This offense is so predictable and stale. Gus ran a dinged up Bubba Pettway 35 times. The receivers on this team are severely underachieving unit at this point.
It was just bad, man.
EMILY RIOS
Remember when Mario Fannin spent an entire week carrying the football around campus to learn how to protect the ball? Let's do that again.
When did you ever feel so bad winning with so many yards and a QB who set a completion record? Holy cow. That was painful.
PHILIP ARNOLD
A real question I feel like needs answering is what if Auburn hadn't turned the ball over 5 times and missed a field goal? How would you really feel about that?
JACK CONDON
Watching on the non-HD SEC Network Alternate channel made this awful. Our offense bathing in olive oil before the game made it worse. The defense is going to become the jilted lover when their inevitably comes a time that we need the offense to score 20 points in a game.
Stidham looked more poised this week, but he still held the ball too long. Thank God Missouri looked really bad yesterday as well, so next weekend in CoMo might be the pathetic vs. the pitiful.
