Link sAUsage: Oh, Mickey, You So Fine

September 15, 2017
You’ve surely heard it by now -- Auburn’s got themselves a new softball coach.
And it’s a good one.
The Tigers romanced Mickey Dean away from James Madison, where he’d spent five highly-successful years running the Dukes’ program. In those five seasons, he amassed a record of 237-56, and made NCAA postseason play every season, including a Super Regional berth in 2016. He’ll surely be up to the task of keeping the good Auburn softball tradition of late as he replaces Clint Myers.
Back on the football field, Auburn plays Mercer tomorrow. In just a bit we’ll have a look not at the Bears, but at the Tigers, since this game is all about Auburn.
In the meantime, you can read this good Q&A from a Mercer beat writer.
It’s pretty obvious that tomorrow, fans will be looking for some improvement from the offense and Jarrett Stidham. We need deep passes, intermediate passes, short passes... heck, just passes that work as Auburn looks to roll Mercer.
But what has Stidham done that’s been good? We’re aware of the bad, so that’s included here as well.
Despite the loss at Clemson and historically bad offensive showing, there’s one guy who’s had his fair share of bad performances (but way more solid ones), and he’s of the opinion that we all need to cool it.
Finally, a couple of news nuggets from the NFL... first up, former Auburn offensive lineman Willie Anderson has been nominated to the Pro Football Hall of Fame. He was a stud on Auburn’s early-to-mid 90s offensive lines, and a mainstay in the NFL for years after that.
And when you’re not watching the beloved Cammy Cam as the Panthers take their home opener this weekend, be sure to check out the 2017 debut for former Tiger Peyton Barber. He and the Buccaneers will open the season a week late due to Hurricane Irma, and he’s still got a super affinity for his former stopping point.
More to come today! War Eagle!
