As Fall camp continues its winding path to September 2nd, Malik Willis continues to impress his coaches. Though Gus has been coy, many are saying Willis has made tremendous strides in August and is making his case for possible significant playing time in 2017. Gus had this to say regarding Malik, “…he is a guy that I’m real happy with. He’s been throwing the ball really well…he’s on the best athletes on our team…” Gus also confirmed (when asked) that any other year, Willis would be pushing hard for the starting spot at quarterback. He would not confirm whether or not Willis had a predetermined package of plays.
