Practice rolls along on the Plains, and today we’ll get you a look at a few of the position groups as well as one bond between two coaches on the offensive side. We’re 23 days to kickoff against Georgia Southern. Buckle up!
Yesterday we posted our look at the defensive backs and mentioned how Carlton Davis played much of last year injured. How injured? Head, shoulders, knees, and toes apparently.

In front of Davis on the defense will be Auburn’s deep linebacker corps, with one guy in particular drawing the gaze of the Auburn coaches as he’s come to be known as a “rolling ball of butcher knives” -- horrific as that sounds.

But across the way, one of Auburn’s receivers is making a name for himself as a tough guy to guard.

And finally, Auburn’s going to try to replicate the deep defensive line we saw last year, but it’ll definitely be a committee job to replace what Carl Lawson and Montravius Adams accomplished in 2016.

Across the pond, Auburn basketball is taking an Italian tour, playing a four-game stretch in the land of pasta. Yesterday was their opener and Bruce Pearl’s small lineup did some work on the opposition.

Kansas played the same team last week and didn’t dominate nearly the way the Tigers did. It’s always difficult to compare, but it’s still nice to see.
