Boom! 3-Star Safety Jamien Sherwood Commits!

The Tigers stay hot on the recruiting trail, landing their other top safety target.

No position is in more need of impact players this class than safety. No position has more impact players committed right now than safety. That's how this whole recruiting thing should work.

Today, a few days after Auburn’s cookout event, 3* safety Jamien Sherwood decided he wanted to suit up for the Tigers next season.

Sherwood chose Auburn over Miami, Florida, Florida State and plenty others. After landing 4* S Quindarious Monday last week, it's safe to say Auburn has pulled in their top 2 targets at the safety position. Always a good thing when you can snag the first two names off your target list at a position.

Highlights

Scouting Report

"Athlete" is the first word that comes to mind when watching Sherwood's tape. He does pretty much everything for his high school team whether that's catching passes, running the ball, playing in the box as a linebacker or picking off deep throws. Auburn wants him at safety and understandably so. He's a rangy kid with great size, speed and isn’t afraid of contact. It's clear, Greg Brown prioritizes size and physicality at the safety spot and he’s gotten that in Monday and now Sherwood.

The Class

Auburn now has 11 commits and might be done at the safety spot. They have Monday, Sherwood, Kolbi Fuqua and Josh Marsh is expected to play a hybrid LB/S role. After the evaluation period, it became clear that Sherwood was a guy AU REALLY wanted. They made him a priority and it paid off.

The Tigers are starting to load up now and looking to finish this summer strong. They’ve landed four commitments in the past five days and some of Auburn’s top targets are expected to announce in August so things could stay hot for the next few weeks. Sherwood is another big, important piece to this class who could have an impact on the field next season at a major position of need.

War Eagle Jamien!
