In February former Auburn head coach Gene Chizik chose to step away from the only life he’s ever known, being a football coach. As the defensive coordinator at North Carolina, he had just helped land a great recruiting class and the news caught Tar Hill fans by surprise.
After being a long distance dad for two years, Chizik made a decision to leave football to be able to spend time with his three kids. This weekend he shared his thoughts about the importance of being a dad to Track ‘Em Tigers partner, USA TODAY. It makes for a great Father’s day read.
“One thing is certain as we celebrate Father’s Day,” said Gene. “Not one of us will ever regret a single moment spent with our children. One-on-one time with our kids means the world to them … [And] there is no better time a dad can invest.”
We recommend our readers read his full article at USA TODAY.
