News and notes from the Auburn corners of the Internet

I'll admit, there's not much out there today. My usually feedly has only one article I can really push and it is more general college football than just Auburn.

BASKETBALL

We knew Austin Wiley was dominating the U19 Team USA World Cup practices. Now, we have game evidence. Wiley put up 15 points and greatly pleased his coach for the event - John Calipari - in the team's first exhibition.

SWIMMING AND DIVING

A current Tiger and now a former Tiger have made the Team USA World Championship roster as Zane Grothe earned a spot on the team.

FOOTBALL

SECcountry.com continues previewing Auburn's positions. They've already hit the QBs and RBs. Now, they're on to the WRs. There are so many unknowns in this group. There is also so much talent, though. They're all so young, but there is potential for this group to be spectacular and most of them will be around for at least the 2018 season, too. Kyle Davis and Nate Craig-Myers alone could be one of the top duos in the conference with Stidham throwing to them. Adding in Slayton, Stove, McClain, Hastings (yes, Hastings, too, he could really find a role with Stidham (just see the A-Day game)) and you've got a great bunch of really young receivers.

Nick Ruffin provides "senior leadership" for the defensive backs and WHEN DID RUFFIN BECOME A SENIOR!? I swear, it seems like he was just a freshman not that long ago.

Two Tigers are on The Sporting News' Pre-Season All-American list and you'll never guess who one of them is! Ok, you'll guess, because it's easy. The other one is a bit surprising, but a pleasant surprise.

In national recruiting news, the NCAA is considering making changes to the transfer rules. Those new rules would have to go through a ton of steps to be official, but it would be interesting to see what happens if they pass. Will it be "free agent free for all PANIC!!!" or will it not mean much at all? I'm betting that regulation never passes. Or, if it does, it won't include the "don't have to sit out a year" part some have mentioned.

That's pretty much it. Like I said, not much out there from yesterday. We'll have some CROOTIN' stuff up for you in a little while.
