News and notes from the Auburn corners of the Internet

BASEBALL

There is going to be so much hype around Casey Mize next season. He was named to yet another All-American list yesterday. This time, it was 2nd team.

FOOTBALL

Two Auburn plays made Bleacher Report's Top 10 plays since 2000 AND YOU'LL NEVER GUESS WHICH TWO THEY WERE! Seriously, though, I would put the 2005 play against Georgia up there, too. That play belongs up high for the sheer insanity of how it ended. With the amount of time left on the clock, if Devin Aromashadu scores, UGA probably wins that game. He fumbled, Auburn recovered, but it wasn't Devin himself so the "can't advance a ball fumbled forward on 4th down" rule comes into play and it was just a perfect storm of insanity that allowed Auburn to run the clock out and kick the winning field goal.

AL.com points out the strange (to those who don't know the Loveliest Village) phenomenon of former Tiger coaches - even those who were fired - returning to the Plains in their retirement. I can't count the number of ROTC instructors I've known at Auburn - during my time as a Cadet and again as Cadre - who had similar feelings and would retire from Auburn or would come back to Auburn after they retired from the Army. It's just a wonderful place to be.

Speaking of former coaches, I missed putting this article by Gene Chizik about Father's Day and his choice to walk away from coaching in yesterday's link dump. It's well worth the read.

The official site has a piece on Buddy McClinton, a former Tiger who is a College Football Hall of Fame candidate.

The SECcountry.com All-Auburn football team is complete. See what the final depth chart looks like!

What are the top 10 road wins in Auburn history according to Auburn Undercover? See for yourself (if you can endure the slide show). You have to love the sense of humor for that first one in the "Honorable Mention" category. BABY I'M BURNIN!
