News and notes from the Auburn corners of the Internet

BASEBALL

Casey Mize was named 3rd-Team All-American by another publication. He'll likely hear his name called early in next year's MLB Draft as long as he stays healthy.

There were a bunch of players drafted at various points, but the good news is quite a few of Auburn's 2017 signing class will be coming to the Plains. We wrote stories about Tuesday and Wednesday's draft days here on our site.

BASKETBALL

Bruce Pearl has a brief summer preview with some quotes on the 2017-18 basketball team.

SOFTBALL

I'm sure by now you've heard the news. Carlee Wallace has departed the Auburn Softball team. That's Auburn's best offensive weapon last season and one of the best defensive players, as well. Still, Clint Myers has such a history of winning that I'm sure he'll find a way to overcome it.

FOOTBALL

Auburn Football will be celebrating 125 years this season. They've developed an emblem/patch for it and the official site posted a piece about the history.

Gus Malzahn made some staff changes, hires, etc official, yesterday. Most of these have been known for a few weeks, but the final moves were announced, today.

Phil Steele believes Auburn could be in the playoff picture at the end of the season. Hey, I thought he was wrong about 2015 when he pointed out the lack of returning lettermen and how that was a sure sign of struggles to come, so who am I to say he's wrong now?

Remember Philip Pierre-Louis? He was one of the last recruits of the Tuberville era and we were all excited about the speedy little receiver and his potential in the Tony Franklin (HA) offense. Well, after a few years of hard work, he finally earned his degree from Auburn this Spring.
