Auburn Softball Backs Are to the Wall … Drop Game One of Super Regional

-28f58a556f3af09d

Auburn dropped game one of the Super Regional to Oklahoma 4-0 on Friday. Makayla Martin pitched well enough to win but she couldn’t get the run support from the offense. The Tigers had their chances but left runners stranded. You have to give credit to Sooner ace Paige Parker for some of that. She is one of the best pitchers in college softball.

Auburn now faces a must win game Saturday at noon CT on ESPN. Win that one and they set up a winner-take-all game for Sunday. Lose Saturday and well … we won’t go there.

The good news in that this is not the first time Auburn has found them selves in this situation. They won last year’s Super Regional after dropping the first game to Arizona. And they lost the first game of last season’s national championship series and won the second forcing a game three.

“We had opportunities to score and didn’t do it, said coach Clint Myers. “They outplayed us today. The plan is to outplay them tomorrow.”
