Obliterate Ole Miss! (Auburn at Ole Miss, Open Thread.)

Tigers continue to chase championship dreams, this afternoon!

War Eagle, everybody! Tonight, the Auburn Tigers will take on the Ole Miss Rebels, in Oxford. The Tigers come in riding a 4 game winning streak, and still have everything to play for. Ole Miss limps into this game, having lost to Arkansas and LSU in back to back weeks. At 1-3 in the SEC, Ole Miss title hopes are already dashed. At 3-4 overall, Ole Miss needs to win 3 of their last 5 games to even be bowl eligible. Suffice it to say that much more was expected of this team. Will we see an angry bunch this week at their place, or will they be sleepwalking?

This battle will likely be won or lost in the trenches, as is usual in most football games. Auburn is near the top of the nation rushing the football, and Ole Miss has had difficulty stopping the run. Ole Miss has a depleted, wounded offensive line, and Auburn goes 10-deep along the defensive front. On paper, it’s not difficult to predict a rout. Strange things happen in college football, though. That’s why the games aren’t played on paper. Auburn cannot afford to come in cocky, and have a poor effort.

For those attending the game, near-perfect weather is expected. Other than a couple of momentary cool snaps, summer has never really ended in the deep South. It should be around 75 degrees at kickoff, falling into the 60s by the end of the game. No rain is expected. This game will kick off at 6:15 PM Central time, and it will be broadcast on the SEC Network.

As always, feel free to join in and enjoy this thread. I’ll be absent this week, as duty calls at work. I may also be late afternoon tomorrow before posting grades. War Eagle, and let’s take care of business in Oxford!
