No. 4 Auburn defeated No.3 Oklahoma 11-7 in game two of the Women’s College World Series Tuesday night in one of the wildest games ever played at AHS Hall of Fame Stadium.

Oklahoma jumped out to 7-0  lead in the second inning, then the never say die Tigers came storming back and tied the game in the fourth on a Kasey Cooper’s two-run shot.

The two powerhouse programs scored more runs in the first two innings than has ever been scored in an entire finals game before.

Oklahoma (56-8) scored six runs in the top of the second and Auburn (58-11) scored five with two outs in the bottom of the inning to start the third with the Sooners nursing a 7-5 lead.

The Tigers made those five runs when Whitney Jordan hit a 3-run homerun followed by a Tiffany Howard triple and a Kasey Cooper RBI single. And the Tigers could have had more as they left the bases loaded. In the next inning, Cooper tied the game with her two-run homer.

The Sooners just missed taking a 2 run lead in the sixth when Tiffany Howard made the defensive play of the series when she made a leaping catch at the railing in left field to rob Shay Knighten of a two run homer. But the biggest dramatics occurred in extra inning play.

In the bottom of the eighth, All-American, Emily Carosone came to the plate with the bases loaded and smashed the first pitch over the wall for a grand slam home run and a dramatic 11-7 win over Oklahoma. And the Auburn bench erupted in celebration.

Auburn’s game two victory ended Oklahoma’s 31 game winning streak and more importantly forced a game three championship game at 7 p.m. CT Wednesday on ESPN. What a comeback! Tigers win and game 3 is on! War Eagle and ….

Beat Oklahoma
