When the Carolina Panthers signed quarterback Cam Newton to a five-year, $103.8 million contract extension earlier this month, general manager Dave Gettleman said the former Auburn star would take the team to "the Promised Land." Everyone probably assumed Gettleman was talking about the Super Bowl, but maybe he was referring to the Triple Crown instead.
