Cam Newton expected to return as quarterback for Carolina Panthers in next game

The Carolina Panthers hit the daily double on Sunday. The Panthers kicked off their NFL season with a 20-14 victory over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and they did it without putting quarterback Cam Newton at risk. The former Auburn star suffered a hairline rib fracture on Aug. 22 in a preseason game, and Carolina coach Ron Rivera decided on Saturday to sideline Newton for the opener.
