Let’s celebrate another Auburn championship!

War Eagle, everybody! It’s SEC Championship day! In Atlanta, in the shiny new Mercedes Benz Stadium, the Auburn Tigers will take on the Georgia Bulldogs for the second time in less than a month, for the big prize. The winner takes home the coveted SEC trophy, and is virtually guaranteed a spot in the College Football Playoff. The loser might get into a New Year’s Six bowl, more maybe something with more Citrus in it.

Auburn head coach Gus Malzahn has a chance to make history, in this game. He could win his second SEC title in 5 years, while coaching in the same division with Nick Saban. How impressive would a second SEC Title be, as an Auburn coach? Shug Jordan couldn’t win 2 titles. Tuberville couldn’t do it. Nor could Gene Chizik. Today Malzahn can become only the second coach to win two or more, joining Pat Dye. This SEC Title Game will kick off at 3:00 PM Central Standard Time, and it will be nationally televised on CBS.

Weather won’t be a factor in this game, however, playing in a dome can be rough. Both teams have become used to playing in breezy fall weather, the past month. In a dome, it will be at least 10 degrees hotter. And grass is a lot more forgiving than artificial turf that is stretched over concrete. For those fans attending various pregame festivities in downtown Atlanta, expect partly cloudy skies, with temperatures in the upper 60s. A fog-shrouded near-full moon should greet fans exiting the stadium after the game concludes.

As always, feel free to join in and enjoy this thread. I will on my Thinkpad for my usual play by play, operating remotely for this one. If I’m slower than usual, and miss a play or two, that’s why. War Eagle, and let’s see if Auburn complete an SEC championship run against the Georgia Bulldogs
