NSD 2017 – Join TET for our Wednesday LiveBlog

AU_NSD

Ah, National Signing Day 2017 – The official visits are over and those who follow recruiting await Wednesday with anticipation hoping those recruits targeted by Auburn’s coaching staff choose to play for the Tigers.

National Signing Day is one of those yearly occurances that fans seem to either like, dislike, or fall somewhere in the middle. Yes, we are speaking of, mostly, teenage recruits assigned some number of “stars” that may or may not mean anything in the long run and Jay posted a great article to such effect. I follow recruiting simply because it’s Auburn football, and until spring practices start, it’s about the only Auburn football topic this time of the year.

Depending on the sources, Auburn currently has 5 signees and either 15 or 20 commitments and, personally, I’m not sure which of the sources is more accurate. It doesn’t really matter at this point.

I will include, as best possible, those commitments above the LiveBlog on Wednesday and then we will post live updates all day as recruits make their choices.

I’m not sure we will experience some of the drama of last year as picking up something of an unexpected 5* to close out the day rates pretty high.

Auburn definitely wants pen to paper for 5* OT Calvin Ashley who, last week, shut down all visits and contacts saying, “I love Auburn”.

4* DE Markaviest “Big Cat” Bryant has a decision to make and, with Auburn being his last official visit, this could potentially bode well for this year’s signing class.

4* LB Tyler Taylor seems destined to be a Tiger but of what variety? This appears to be down to Auburn or LSU.

3* OG Matthew Tanner, a JUCO transfer, previously said there was a 99% chance that he would choose Auburn. His latest comment says that signing with Auburn is “very likely”.

Auburn seems to be one of two remaining choices for 3* DT Tyrone Truesdell so we will see how that shakes out.

And, the first scholarship offer by new OC Chip Lindsey went to 3* TE John Samuel Shenker who committed not long afterward.

The LiveBlog will be online starting at 9:00 CT Wednesday and we hope you will join us here and take part with your comments and insight.

As always, It’s Great to be an Auburn Tiger and…

WAR EAGLE
