Cam Newton on Charleston visit: 'I would have had to question myself if I didn't go'

When team owner Jerry Richardson ushered the Carolina Panthers into the NFL 21 years ago, he said the franchise would represent both North Carolina and South Carolina, even though the team plays in Charlotte, N.C. The Panthers hold training camp at Wofford College, where Richardson was a football star, in Spartanburg, S.C., about 75 miles from Charlotte.
