'Future is very bright' for Auburn's defense, says Gus Malzahn

Newly-hired defensive coordinator Will Muschamp is observing and evaluating players at practices behind closed doors as the Tigers prepare to face No. 18 Wisconsin in the Outback Bowl on Thursday. Muschamp is not allowed by NCAA rules to coach the bowl game after Auburn elevated graduate assistant Travis Williams to linebackers coach following the firing of Ellis Johnson as the defensive coordinator on Nov. 30.
