Auburn No. 2 in Final Regular Season College Football Playoff Rankings

DPrqL0lVAAACkBK

The College Football Playoff Committee announced their final rankings of the 2017 football season tonight and there is a new team in the top four. After Auburn soundly beat two number one teams in 15 days, the Tigers jumped from 6th place to No. 2 in the rankings. This means Auburn will definitely be in the playoffs “if” they can defeat No.6 Georgia in a rematch Saturday in the SEC Championship Game in Atlanta.

Alabama dropped from No. 1 to No. 5 after being dominated by the Tigers in the Iron Bowl last weekend. The Tide now has to hope one of the top four stumble in a conference championship game for a chance to get back in the picture.

The College Football Playoff final rankings and bowl matchups will be announced Sunday at 11 a.m. CT.  Most likely the teams that find themselves in the 5th or 6th place spot will be selected
for a New Year’s Six bowl. The top six teams are a follows.

1. Clemson (11-1)
2. Auburn (11-1)
3. Oklahoma (11-1)
4. Wisconsin 12-0
5. Alabama (11-1)
6. Georgia (11-1)
