4-Star WR Matthew Hill Commits To Auburn!

Auburn just landed one of the top WRs in the country.

It seems like Auburn has been waiting forever for 4* WR Matthew Hill to pull the trigger and join the 2018 Auburn class. I thought he might do it at Big Cat Weekend (had a commitment article written and ready to go) but he decided to hold off to take more visits. Hill visited Auburn again in July but still no commitment.

That changed today. On Twitter this afternoon, the Brookwood standout announced he plans on being an Auburn Tiger in 2018.

The 6’2” 185 lb Snellville, GA native chose Auburn over South Carolina, Alabama and plenty others. The Gamecocks made a late push but it wasn’t enough to sway the lifelong AU fan from his childhood favorite.

After last year’s WR class that featured only 2 commits, the Tigers are looking to load up in the 2018 class and Hill is a big piece of that plan. Hill becomes the highest rated WR to commit to Auburn since Kodi Burns landed the job.

Highlights

Scouting Report

Hill is an elite athlete with big time upside. He has the speed to stretch a team vertically and the leaping ability to go up and get the ball in coverage. He also possess outstanding hands and every time he touches the ball there's a chance it could go the distance. The talented Brookwood athlete plays all over the field including some as a hard hitting strong safety. There’s no doubt this is the biggest WR commit Kodi Burns has landed to date and a big boost to the 2018 recruiting class.

The Class

Auburn now has twelve commitments, two at the wide receiver spot and some real momentum heading into the fall. There’s a chance Hill is the last commitment the Tigers get before kickoff though there’s still 4* Buck Richard Jibunor out there and 4* RB Asa Martin plans on announcing on August 24th. Either way, getting Hill on board now is huge for this Auburn coaching staff. The Tigers have a chance at signing an elite WR class and Hill is a big part of that effort.

War Eagle Matthew!
