4-Star Linebacker Michael Harris Commits To Auburn!

The good times keep rolling on the Plains

As the kid's say these days, "it's lit" in Auburn right now. The Tigers just landed their third commit in the past four days and fifth of the past three weeks and it's a big one.

Despite his vocalness about wanting to play for Ohio State, Auburn never stopped pursuing 4* LB Michael Harris. After it became apparent the Buckeyes were going to make the Tucker, GA native wait, he elected to instead commit to the school that's been after him the hardest in Auburn:

Harris is a HUGE pickup. He's hilariously underrated in my view and is a guy that could make an impact very early in his Auburn career. Harris chose the Tigers over Ohio State, Georgia, Alabama and plenty others. He's seen his stock grow from unrated all the way to the #11 ILB in the 247 composite rankings. Honestly, wouldn't be shocked if he rose even further by the end of this cycle. This kid is a big time player and was near or at the top of Auburn's want list at linebacker.

Highlights

Scouting Report

In my amateur opinion, Michael Harris is the best linebacker in the southeast. Why? He's got good size at 6'2" 213 lbs, outstanding closing speed and is one of the best tacklers in this class. The only knock I see used against him is his lateral quickness but considering his high football IQ and ability to close fast on a ballcarrier, I don't think it's going to be a problem at the next level. Harris is an elite run defender from the linebacker spot who is outstanding at taking great angles to the football. He's a perfect fit for the middle linebacker position for Auburn.

The Class

This recruitment is a great example of why coaching staffs keep pursuing top targets even when it looks like they are destined to go elsewhere. Auburn wanted Harris and made him a priority from the beginning so when the chance arrived they pounced all over it. There are some ACT concerns with Harris and that's a big reason why the Buckeyes did not push for him this summer but from everything I have seen, chances are good he will make the grades necessary to qualify.

Harris gives Auburn their 10th commitment of the cycle and their first linebacker. Travis Williams flexed his recruiting muscle last cycle, signing three outstanding backers and is looks to be doing the same in the 2018 class. There's a chance 4* LB Zakoby McClain could jump on board any day and the Tigers are working hard on flipping 4* Quay Walker. Add in 4* Richard Jibunor and it's looking like T-WILL is well on his way to another top linebacker class. Harris is a great start.

War Eagle Michael!
