2017 SEC Media Days: How to Watch Auburn Head Coach Gus Malzahn

It's Auburn's turn at the microphone.

Since Gus Malzahn has been Auburn's head coach, he's pretty much been either the first in the shoot for SEC Media Days or has at least been on Day 1. In 2017, he gets the final day.

Malzahn will step to the microphone at 10:00 am Eastern, 9:00 am Central this morning on the SEC Network. With him (though not at the podium at that time) will be Placekicker Daniel #LEGATRON Carlson, Safety Tray Matthews, and Offensive Lineman Braden Smith.

So, what can we expect from Auburn's head coach? Probably not a whole lot. Even though Jarrett Stidham is getting a ton of hype in the media and even garnering preseason Heisman odds, it's not likely that Malzahn is going to talk him up as he did Jeremy Johnson in 2015. Stidham hasn't even officially won the starting job, yet, anyway.*

I expect Malzahn to be somewhat subdued, but not overly sandbagging. He's got a lot of returning talent and a lot of expectations surrounding that talent. I'm sure he'll discuss the defensive turnaround last season and how hard it will be to replace players like Carl Lawson and Montravius Adams. He'll mention the running game and hoping we're able to stay injury free.

At the end, though, Gus Malzahn is one of the masters of Coach Speak. He's going to speak a whole lot of words without really saying much at all. That's what we've come to expect. This year, we don't even have a controversy about the pace of play or anything like that to stir things up. Truth be told, this has been a remarkably boring SEC Media Days.

The good news is that with Media Days here, we're so very close to football season. Auburn's Fall Camp is less than a month away. It's actually just a few short weeks. We're getting past "Talking Season" and into "Real Football News."**

So, folks, tune into SEC Network at 10 eastern, 9 central tomorrow morning and watch our head coach and then his contingent of players with him. I'm sure it'll be a hoot. And it's that little shot you need to get you through the final weeks of the offseason.

War Eagle.

*We all know he's going to be the starter.

**Which, of course, someone other than me will primarily be covering.
