The Duf Puts Another One in the Win Column Despite Rain

DUBLIN, OH - JUNE 04: Jason Dufner reacts after making a par on the 18th hole during the final round of the Memorial Tournament at Muirfield Village Golf Club on June 4, 2017 in Dublin, Ohio. (Photo by Andy Lyons/Getty Images)

After a dismal Saturday 77 where he it the ball all over the place the Duf put it back together on Sunday with a 4 under par 68 and took the Jack Nicklaus Memorial Tournament by 3 shots. He started the final round 4 shots off the lead and swapped birdies and bogeys on the front nine to shoot even par.

However, he flipped the switch on the back nine despite an hour and a half rain delay and made 4 birdies and no bogeys. It was not without some doubt when he hit has drive on 18 into the thick rough and was not even able to gouge it out on the green. He hit his third shot on the green and drained a 30 ft putt to win with ease.

Overall it was an awesome display of ball striking but was a typical Jason Dufner putting day. Putting is by far his biggest weakness. Even one of the announcers said after a herky jerky putting effort that Jason would give big money to have Ricky Fowlers putting stoke. He is among the leaders on tour in almost every ball striking category and among the cellar dwellers in almost all putting categories. If he could ever find something in his putting to just get above average he would be among the leaders every time he teed it up.

I heard a bunch of War Eagles from the gallery yesterday and he did Auburn proud.

War Eagle Jason!
