News and notes from the Auburn corners of the Internet

BASEBALL

The Tigers won! Keegan Thompson pitched a hitless 6 innings with 8 strikeouts before a weather delay of one hour. Cole Lipscomb took over from there and allowed a few hits and one run in the 9th, but overall had a great three innings to secure the 4-1 Auburn win in Game 1 of the series against Ole Miss.

If you need to know the details on how to watch the next two games, we've got you covered. There is a change in the pitching rotation, though. Casey Mize has been scratched from tonight's lineup with a flare of the arm soreness that caused him to miss two weeks. Davis Daniel will go in his place, tonight. Mize could possibly pitch tomorrow, but I suspect Andrew Mitchell will start the final game of the series.

SOFTBALL

The NCAA Tournament begins today with the Auburn Regional starting at 1:00 pm Central. You can find information on the Regional here! Be sure to check that out because there are some very weird and strange rules concerning weather in the NCAA Regionals.

With the bats being nowhere near as powerful as last season, Auburn is relying even more on the pitchers. So, it's great news that Makayla Martin seems to have found her form again at just the right time.

TENNIS

The Sweet 16 begins today for the Tigers in Athens as they'll face #7 Texas Tech - a team the ladies have already defeated once this season.

FOOTBALL

Two Tigers are transferring from the program. Redshirt freshmen Marlon Character Jr and Antwuan Jackson. I don't know Jackson's reason, but Brandon Marcello was the first to report a reason for Character leaving. This is the time of year when this news starts to come out. The spring semester is over and players are reporting back for summer sessions and offseason workouts. I think you'll be hearing about players transferring all over the country over the next week.

Some go out, others come in. Some of the 2017 signing class are now on the Plains and that includes two graduate transfers and a 5* on the offensive line.

Former Tiger Deon Mix is heading to Houston to finish his college career. Hopefully, he continues to keep up with Auburn Softball this postseason. His tweets last year during the tournament run were hilarious.

Tommy Tuberville said Lubbock, TX "looked like Iraq" in a radio interview and somehow people are thinking that's a big deal. He's not exactly wrong in terms of the desert landscape.
