Sink the Sooners! (Auburn vs. Oklahoma, Open Thread.)

War Eagle, everybody, and Happy New Year! Tonight, the Auburn Tigers will take on the Oklahoma Sooners in the Sugar Bowl. For the Tigers, it’s a chance for redemption after a sour end to the regular season. Oklahoma should come in with a chip on their shoulder, after being passed over by the playoff committee in favor of Ohio State. In my opinion, conference champions should have first crack at any playoff, and Oklahoma did win the Big 12 title this past season. This game kicks off at 7:30 PM, and will be televised on ESPN.

For the Auburn Tigers, all questioning eyes will be on the offense. It has been a Jekyll and Hyde season, for the Auburn offense. It was a unit that could not get out of its own way at first, then built into an unstoppable force that rolled over Arkansas at midseason, 56-3. Since then, injuries have decimated the skill positions, and production has steadily declined. With the Christmas break, word is that injured Auburn players have mostly healed, and the offense should be ready to make some noise in this bowl game.

Weather conditions should not be an issue, with this game being played indoors in the Superdome. However, anyone attending this game will need the rain gear, for the trip to stadium. Wave after wave of rain is passing through Louisiana today. Every time I’ve been to New Orleans and it has rained, there has been flooding in mid-town. Stay safe, and keep up with the weather reports!

As always, feel free to join in and enjoy this thread. I’ll be at the keyboard a little later, with my usual play by play. War Eagle, and let’s obliterate Oklahoma!
