The only former Auburn player in the Pro Football Hall of Fame was a World War II infantryman, carried the nickname "Gunner," went to the league championship game in all but one of his 12 pro seasons, claimed membership in the "Filthy Five," had a bridge named after him and is said to have never missed a practice, let alone a game, in his entire football career.
